ALIFE Spring 08′ Footwear!!!

Posted in Sneaker Culture with tags , , , , , on February 25, 2008 by Jarrod

The international scientific community was wrong. The single source for the climate shift that is affecting our dear planet is not greenhouse gases but instead, can be found at 158 Rivington St. on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Every season the brand continues to deliver heat at unprecedented levels. Spring 08′ is no different with the Sprite Everybody Hi’s from their Soda Pack and two new styles; the Kennedy and the Chaser which both draw upon inspiration from the New Balance 574 and Clarks Wallabee respectively. If you don’t care about global warming too much, you can cop a pair here. How much more heat can our dear planet take?

Alife x Reebok Court Victory Pump – Part 2

Posted in Sneaker Culture with tags , , on November 27, 2007 by Jarrod

Yes, it is true. The famed Alife x Reebok collaboration is back in two new colors and women sizes as well! For those who are unaware, the Alife x Reebok Court Victory Pump features an upper which is made out of a tennis ball felt material and the archaic Pump technology. I personally own a pair of Court Victory Pumps and let me tell you, they definitely are attention grabbers no matter where you go. Sadly, if you live on the East Coast, Alife NYC will not be selling these, but you can get them here. They will however, sell the matching t-shirts this Saturday December 1st. Check out the pics below.

Amalgamation of Style

Posted in Clothing with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on October 23, 2007 by Jarrod

I’m so confused these days. When I wake up in the morning, I don’t know how I should dress. Should I go Rockstar and wear a rhinestone encrusted t-shirt with a pair of True Religion jeans and a pocket chain? Or how about preppy with a cardigan, printed flat-front slacks and a pair of dock shoes? Maybe the backpacker look, with a Mishka t-shirt, raw selvedge jeans, and a pair of ALIFEs. What about if I combine all three and create something that is truly unique? Yeah, that will work and it is working for trendy and not so trendy youths in America’s big cities. The mixing of styles however, has created major problems in urban areas across the country. Cops no longer know who to profile and shop owners are confused as to who to watch because young black kids in urban areas are wearing brands like Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, and American Eagle. Their shirts have become smaller and so have their jeans too as the stereotypical “hood” image has been given a new definition. Sure, people are still wearing baggy clothes, but at a diminishing rate. So who is the culprit(s) behind this new blending of styles? I blame the music industry, more specifically: Kanye, Pharrell, Dipset, and Fergie. Each one of these individuals has had a hand in changing the way black people are currently dressing. Kanye made it cool to be preppy and dress somewhat metrosexual. Pharrell brought skateboard style to the hood. Dipset gave us the rhinestone t-shirt and pocket chain and without Fergie, would most people have even heard of True Religion? Personally, I think the mixing of styles is very interesting and quite welcomed. Let’s face it, overly baggy clothes are kind of silly looking and has a certain negative stigma attached to it, and without them, I think that we are collectively much better as a modern society. Now that our wares have changed, will our mindsets follow suit too, or am just being overly philosophical for no reason? Whatever, let me just shut up. Oh by the way, does anyone know where I placed my new creme Sperry Topsiders?

New Alife x Asics Gel Lite III

Posted in Clothing, Sneaker Culture with tags , , , on October 23, 2007 by Jarrod

Always known for stepping out of the box in the sneaker game, Alife and Asics have teamed up to deliver something well…unconventional. The new collaboration features a re-design of the Asics Gel Lite III in the form of an alligator which maybe could be to capitalize on the craze associated with Halloween. The eyelets, fortunately removable, are in the shape of alligator eyes. Personally, I think they are ugly and has led Alife to drop from my favorite shoe company to now my second favorite. The only thing that I like about the collection, are the shirts that are being sold in conjunction with the shoes. The shoes and t-shirts will be released October 27th and can be purchased here

These might be the hardest Pumas ever created (yes, better than the AlifexPuma First Rounds). The level of customization on these are truly superb. Not for those with shallow pockets, these will definitely cost you about half of your rent check. Get em here

Maybe one of their hottest releases to date, Alife has just released it’s Barney’s exclusive, “Everybody High” in red, black, and white made of embossed full-grain leather. The shoes are all-over patterned and contain the elastic lacing system that is present on many of their shoes of their new fall collection.
